The award of the Noble Peace Prize to the European Union

It was with great emotion that I received the news of the award of the Noble Peace Prize to the European Union. It is a great honour for the European Union to be awarded the 2012 Nobel Peace prize by the Nobel Peace prize committee.

I am particularly proud of the role that the European Commission has played in shaping a new and strong Europe. All the people that have worked for this institution over the last 60 years can see this as their award, for the commitment and work that they have delivered on behalf of Europe. Report of meeting for information of AIACE Ireland members, held on 6 July, 2012

Attendance. The meeting was chaired by Colin Maynard of the AIACE Ireland Committee. Also present were PMO representatives from Ispra, Ms Gilda Capuano and Ms Daniela Balzarini, members of the AIACE Irish Committee and 40 ordinary members – list of names in Annex 1.

Format of Meeting: The purpose of the meeting, arranged by the AIACE Ireland section, was to get first hand information on the Joint Sickness Insurance Scheme (JSIS) from PMO staff in Ispra. To that end, AIACE Irish members were invited to send in specific questions and these formed the agenda for the meeting – with scope for supplementary questions also. In addition, 8 members sought specific 1 to 1 meetings with the PMO representatives, two of which could not attend, the remainder being dealt with by Ms. Balzarini. .

In his introductory remarks, the chairman, Colin Maynard, welcomed the visitors from Ispra and mentioned that he was chairing the meeting in the place of AIACE Ireland chairman, Peter Doyle, who was unavoidably absent. He proposed to run seriatim through the list of questions and to have a short break at about 11.30, after which the one-to-one meetings could start in parallel with the general meeting.

ΕΝΗΜΕΡΩΣΗ ΓΙΑ ΟΛΟΥΣ ΤΟΥΣ ΣΥΝΑΔΕΛΦΟΥΣ

ΧΡΟΝΙΑ ΠΟΛΛΑ ΚΑΙ ΚΑΛΑ

Ο Σύλλογος μας θέλει να σας ευχαριστήσει πρώτα από όλα για την θετική ανταπόκριση, ως προς την καταβολή χρημάτων για τις ανάγκες των συμπατριωτών μας.  Τα χρήματα που συγκεντρώθηκαν μαζί με την συμμετοχή του συλλόγου, έφτασαν τα 2.500 ευρώ (1440 από τον σύλλογο και  1060 από τις έκτακτες εισφορές μας) και εστάλησαν στους «ΓΙΑΤΡΟΥΣ ΤΟΥ ΚΟΣΜΟΥ», όπως πρότεινε η Πρόεδρος μέσω ηλεκτρονικού μηνύματος και συμφώνησαν αρκετά μέλη.
Ο σύλλογος μας έκλεισε με τις εκλογές του 2011 τρία χρόνια ζωής. Ο όγκος δουλειάς που διεκπεραιώθηκε τεράστιος, θέματα που μας αφορούν άμεσα λύθηκαν και λύνονται συνέχεια με τελευταίο επίτευγμα την καινούρια εναρμονισμένη βεβαίωση  για τη φορολογική μας  δήλωση.
